| Why is venting into the atmosphere not good? |
The reason its not a good idea to vent to the atmosphere, is because the mass air reads how much air being put into the motor threw the turbo. When the BOV dumps back into the intake track the metered air remain consistent with what the meter has already read. The ECU determines how much fuel to add dependent on how much air the mass air recognizes. When you dump to the atmosphere, the ECU thinks that air that is being ejected from the intake track is actually being ingested into the motor and supplies a given amount of fuel to match the metered air. But that figure is now incorrect because the air is not going into the motor its going into the air, so now you have a disproportionate air/fuel ratio between shifts. |

| What should be the first modification to my DSM? |
VERY FIRST MOD IS: Make sure your DSM is in GOOD RUNNING ORDER!
This question can be answered differently depending on the year and model of your DSM. Instead of me re-writing the upgrade path for each year and model, they guys over at DSMtuners did a wonderful job of doing that for me.
Click on your car for the upgrade path:
1g Turbo / 1g N/T / 2g Turbo / 2g N/T

| What is Fuel Cut? |
Fuel cut is the removal of the injector firing signal from the ECU. This means that your engine's computer doesn't put fuel in the engine, hence the name. Fuel cut is caused by the ECU seeing more air entering the engine than it was originally programmed to use. For even more info on fuel cut, click here. |

| What is Boost Creep? |
A turbocharged car is a positive-feedback system. The faster the turbo's compressor wheel spins, the more horsepower the engine makes. More horsepower means more exhaust gasses are being expelled. The more exhaust that is expelled the faster the turbine (and thus the compressor) wheel spins, and so-on until the engine explodes.
The ECU (sometimes via a boost controller) controls the boost level by opening the wastegate. Boost creep, in which the boost level of your engine continues to rise despite the best efforts of the wastegate, is caused when a fully-open wastegate can't divert enough gasses around the hot-side turbine wheel.
Boost creep can usually be eliminated by porting the wastegate opening and O2 sensor housing or by using an external wastegate. Both of these allow exhaust gasses to vent more efficiently.

| What is Crankwalk? |
Crankwalk is where the crankshaft moves too much inside the engine. This is also known as excessive thrust bearing play. The movement is usually caused by the crankshaft not fitting inside its bearings correctly. While not bad for the crankshaft, the movement can place excessive or uneven loads on the bearings, causing premature failures. |

| What are the differences between the eclipse, talon, and laser? |
There are only minor differences between the three. Engine and drivetrain remain the same while a few body parts are different. Example, Talons have different bumpers and side skirts than the same year eclipse. You can read some more info on each trim level here. |

| Which turbo to go with? |
There is no one answer here. First you have to ask yourself, is this a drag car, road-race car, or daily driver? If your going to be using your car for road-race, you dont want the biggest turbo you can get. Bigger turbo usually means slower spool time. Road-race DSM's will tend to go with a medium size turbo for faster spool time. I see a lot of people with 16g turbos for your daily drive. I myself have a 16g on my daily driver. To decide what turbo is right for you, you must first understand turbos and how they work. Here is a great article that will help you understand how a turbo functions. |

| Which motor oil to go with? |
This is a TOUGH question. Many people have their own opinion on this. My personal preference is Valvoline 10w-30. I have used that since my first car and have NEVER had any problems with it. |

| What intake manifold is best? |
Again this question varies depending on what the car is used for. (Daily Driver, Road-Racing, Drag Racing?) Here is a flow chart that shows the difference between 7 different intake manifolds. |

| How do I make my Blow Off Valve Louder? |
Buy a new BOV. Turbo XS BOV's seem to have some of the loudest and meanest BOV's. Here is a site that allows you to listen to different BOV's out there. |
